Five (Or Three) Favorite Book Sidekicks

Over at the Book Chewers, they're having a link-up for our five favorite book sidekicks! Here's mine:

1. Annabeth Chase, from Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Oh, she's so awesome. :D She's strong, but insecure, if you know what I mean. "At camp you train and train. And that's all cool and everything, but the real world is where the monsters are. That's where you learn whether you're any good or not." ~The Lightning Thief
This quote says a lot about her character: "I don't know what my mom will do [who she'll fight with in the big battle]. I just know I'll fight next to you."
     "Why?" [said Percy.]
"Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more stupid questions?"

2. Mycroft, from Sherlock Holmes.
He's not in the stories a lot, but when he is, he's amazing. And super funny. "I'm glad to meet you, sir," he said, putting out a broad, fat hand like a flipper of a seal. ~"The Greek Interpreter". JOHN WATSON, IS THAT HOW YOU DESCRIBE MYCROFT HOLMES? Apparently, yes.
Mycroft is so awesome, especially in the BBC's portrayal of him by Mark Gatiss.

3. Beleg, from The Silmarillion.
He's Turin's friend. Turin kills him. (It was an accident, by the way.) "I will seek Turin until I find him, and I will bring him back to Menegroth, if I can; for I love him also." ~The Silmarillion, Of Turin Turambar. Oh Beleg, you cutie.

4. Um...it shouldn't be this hard to think of favorite characters. :P I don't really know what to do now. I think I'll end here.

  1. I didn't even think of Sherlock Holmes! Both Mycroft and Watson would be perfect candidates for this.

I too love the way BBC portrays the brothers:)

    1. Isn't the BBC amazing? I've been watching series three here: http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/sherlock/, because I can't wait until the 19th when they come out in America. :P

  2. Speaking of Annabeth...have you seen the movie Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters? I'm not sure how accurate it is since I've only read the first book of the Percy Jackson series but the movie was epic.

And I've been dying to watch Sherlock (BBC series) but no television in this house. I'll have to find some illegal means of watching it ;)

    1. I've not yet seen any of the Percy Jackson movies, but I'd like too! I read a review about the Sea of Monsters somewhere though, and apparently it's not faithful to the book.
      Here's a link for Sherlock: http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/sherlock/. It works on a laptop. ;)

  4. This is awesome! Annabeth is fantastic...although (guilty! guilty!) I've only read the first book. But that's for lack of time, not because I didn't like her. I love how she's awesome and calls names at the same time. XD Pity she didn't do that in the movies....hmm.
Thanks for joining in our linkup!
